Farnham home care FAQs
Do live-in carers need a room of their own?
Yes. Your carer will need a private room with (at minimum) a single bed and a chest of drawers or a wardrobe. Other facilities, such as your bathroom and kitchen, can be shared.
When will my carer take a break?
By law, your carer must take 14 hours of breaks each week. They might take two hours out each day or opt for longer afternoon breaks several times a week.
Who’ll take over my care during these breaks?
If you have a family member or friend who’s happy to provide care, they can step in. If not, we can send another carer to cover the breaks. This comes at an additional cost.
Can I request someone else if I don’t get along with my carer?
Yes, of course. We want you to feel safe and comfortable with your carer. That’s why we give you the final say in who provides your care. However, we’ll carefully match you with a local carer who shares your interests, so the chances are good that you’ll get along.
What kind of housework is my carer allowed to do?
Your carer can help with light chores, including polishing, mopping and washing clothes. However, they’re not allowed to do DIY jobs or carry out home improvements.
